Online finance for home and business?
By James | April 16, 2008
While going paperless, I thought it’d be nice to consolidate everything online. I’ve already pretty much eliminated Microsoft Office by using Google Docs - why not move my finances from Quicken and QuickBooks to an online solution?
Well there is no “Home and Business” edition of Quicken online, and the online version of QuickBooks only works with Internet Explorer. WTF was Intuit thinking? Microsoft was even worse - they don’t offer an online version of Money at all.
After some research I found there was… nothing. Unbelievable. Every day I read about stupid websites and failing online startups and I find it hard to believe no one has made an decent online accounting package.
I think it’s about time someone got on that.

Are you looking specifically for something for homse use?
www.kashflow.co.uk is a very good online accounting package for businesses (I am biased, although our custmers tend to agree)
It can be “bent” for home use, but it’s not what it’s designed for TBH.

Hi Duane,
What I really want is something for Home and Business. Just like Quicken Home & Business, but on the web.

Hey James - I’d recommend giving http://www.mint.com a look through. It’s free and could probably be used for both.
I honestly haven’t had a chance to play with it much myself; it’s on the schedule to look at next week. I was just referred to it yesterday when asked a similar question to a few friends so if you take a look at it - definitely let me know what you think.
